Welcome! The Tibetan Bön Historical Society was formed in 2014 by the Venerable Khenpo Tenpa Yungdrung Rinpoche to document and preserve Tibet’s indigenous religion. Bön is currently the word’s oldest living spiritual tradition. Yungdrung Bon, the native religion of Tibet, has a unique and very rich heritage, and hold very potent methods to help people to personally and spiritually evolve and eventually attain full enlightenment.
During the Chinese Cultural Revolution the Bon tradition was nearly extinguished. But through the great hardship and efforts of a few Tibetan teachers in exile, mainly His Holiness Lungtok Tenpa’i Nyima and His Eminence Yongdzin Lopon Tendzin Namdhak, this precious tradition has survived, and is being practiced still today.
